Sino-German Cattle & Swine Symposium – Focus on Sino-German exchange and cooperation in various areas of animal husbandry
From November 25 to 26, 2023, the Sino-German Cattle & Swine Symposium took place in Beijing, hosted by ADT Project Consulting GmbH (the organizer of the Sino-German cooperation project for sustainable animal breeding and husbandry) and DLG AgroTechService.
Representatives from Chinese and German livestock companies, government officials, Chinese and German agricultural experts and agricultural professionals came together to focus on Chinese and German animal husbandry in the cattle and pig sectors. In-depth discussions on cost savings, efficiency and green and sustainable development followed, with the aim of promoting Sino-German cooperation in modernization, refinement, management and innovative technologies, and jointly supporting the high-quality development of animal husbandry in both countries.
This was an important event in the context of bilateral agricultural cooperation between China and Germany. Director Zhang Lubiao, Foreign Economic Cooperation Center (FECC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (MARA), and Ms. Friederike Dörfler, Counsellor for Food and Agriculture of the German Embassy in Beijing, attended the meeting and opened the first day.
Around 250 experts from the Chinese and German livestock industry, research institutes and representatives from companies and trade associations attended the symposium. During the event, four sub-forums were set up for cattle and pig topics, in which experts and participants exchanged views on market development, feed quality and mechanization, animal health and breeding, information technology and biosecurity. Experts and professionals from both countries gave 40 excellent presentations, 20 on cattle and 20 on pigs.
The successful conclusion of the symposium was the technical excursion on November 27 to the pig slaughterhouse “Beijing Shunxin Agricultural Company Limited” and the dairy farm “Tianjin Furunde Dairy Company Limited“.
